I found a pet, but I cannot hold onto them, what should I do next?

We understand that not everyone is in the position to keep a pet longer than a few hours. If you need to relinquish the pet, please consider connecting with your local animal shelter and leaving the pet in their care instead.

If you have a friend or family member who would be willing to keep the pet while searching for the owner, please have that friend or family member create their own Petco Love Lost account, where they can add the pet as found. Any direct messaging in regard to this pet will now be with the person who has the pet in their care.

Please then remove the pet from your account to avoid further confusion to any users who believe the pet may be a match for theirs.
