I’ve messaged another user, but I’m not receiving a response, what do I do?

We are sorry to hear you have not heard back from the person you messaged. Please be sure that you have allowed sufficient time for the other user to have the opportunity to see and respond to your message. While we understand your concern and worry about the pet, we want to make sure we allow them some time to get back to you, as they may be at work or away from their email. If you do not hear back from them within 24 hours, please reach out to the Petco Love Lost team at lostandfound@petcolove.org and we would be happy to reach out on your behalf.

We understand not everyone is in the position to keep a found pet longer than a few hours. If this is the case for you,  please consider relinquishing the pet to your local open admissions shelter. Please do not try to rehome the pet. Legally, all stray pets must undergo a stray hold period before being eligible for rehoming. This is to give a potential owner sufficient time to find and reclaim their missing pet.

If you do end up relinquishing the pet, please be sure to update your found post indicating where the pet currently is, or take down your found post all together to avoid potential confusion from other users who may believe the pet is a match for theirs.
