Why does Petco Love Lost need my phone number?

When you create an account, the phone number entered is saved within your account. We will not display your account details to other users. However, if you include your contact information on a lost poster, this is something the public can see. 

Having a phone number within your account allows you to receive text message alerts should a potential match be made and another user has messaged you. It also allows the Petco Love Lost team to contact you if needed, and will allow an organization that could have your pet in care contact you directly as well.
